The Tall Tiny House Tour // Apartment Style Vintage Industrial Home // Philippines // Elle Uy
Hi! This is Elle and welcome to the tour of our house. For today, I’ll tour you around the third floor
which includes the Living, Kitchen and Dining area. I’m here now at the Living Room. We’re not yet done renovating the first floor,
second floor – where our bedroom is, and the loft. Our house is not that big though
and we call it (Tall) Tiny House. It’s called Tiny House because we built it
on a 27sqm lot, approximately. So imagine a studio unit which we just built upwards. We’re located at the end of the garage,
so our house has the same width with the garage. If you want to learn more about the process
on how we conceptualized and built the house… … including the floor plans, I blogged about it.
Check the link below if you’re interested. So let’s go!
I’ll tour you around our third floor. I’m now here at the staircase leading to the third floor. But before you reach the third level,
a Gallery Wall will greet you. That’s a picture of us,
mostly of our wedding and our family. And the signage on top with our names is from the backdrop of our wedding. I don’t want to put it to waste
because I made it so I displayed it here. As you reach the third level, you will see this view. To the left is our kitchen. It’s small but it’s adequate for our needs. I added an additional preparation space
and storage here. It’s like our “island” counter. For now, we use it
as a counter for the rice cooker and our bar. It also give use extra storage. One side of it is a pantry
but the other side are false drawers. In reality, it’s a shelving on the other side. The idea behind that is that we will place the microwave and the convection oven there in the future… Since they are bulky items,
they won’t take up counter space anymore. We installed a tapping point for the power outlet already,
but for now it serves as storage. The Main Kitchen is my favorite part. I love the look.
The color of the cabinets is bluish-greenish gray. My husband (Yuseff) and I argue about the color
of these cabinets but that’s what I think it is. It’s a bit dirty now.
I can’t seem to remove the dirt. So I’ll have it repainted soon. I’m thinking about whether to keep the exact color because I love it so much. Or do I change it totally.
We’ll see… For the backsplash, we used subway tiles.
It’s still classic though it’s a bit trendy now. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. It’s important to pick a tile which you will never
get tired of because it’s hard to do re-tiling. I used extra shelves instead of cabinets… because don’t have that much to store
and we just have a few kitchen items. I installed open shelving for now
so it will look more spacious. We also have niches for cooking items and spices. Above the sink is also a niche for the window. To the left side of the kitchen is this secretary cabinet made of pure Narra wood. This originally belongs to my dad. Before, I painted it black. Yikes! But now, that I appreciate the beauty of real wood,
I had it refinished and had the paint stripped off. That is why I super love this piece.
It’s a recent addition to this house. Basically, it’s supposed to be an office. But soon, I’ll transfer this to the bedroom. It won’t be here permanently. The fridge that was moved to the side will be pushed back and we’ll create a different office space here. For now, I enjoy looking at this piece because it’s lovely. This is our dining area. Our table is expandable so it’s so useful
because we always have guests. When we open it, we can accommodate up to 6 pax. Our chairs are vintage finds and we got them for free. I love them so much
and I don’t think I’ll ever let go of them ever. The mirror is resting on the table
because I don’t know what to do with it yet. I’m not sure if I want it centered or if I will put something on the sides. I haven’t decided on it yet. For now, it will just be there. We have mismatched wood tones for our dining space – there’s light wood, natural wood and dark wood. But despite that, I love its overall effect. So this is our living area and this is where we spend most of our time, especially on that sofa. We usually have our movie nights here. See, that’s our TV. As you can see, this bench seems out of place.
It’s not supposed to be there. It’s supposed to be beside that other bench by the window to have a “window seat”. But Yuseff requested to have a table at the corner
so when we’re working we still have a nice view
and we can also see the TV. I like the idea too soo the table will be there
and we’ll transfer the bench on the first floor. Eventually, we will renovate the first floor too. This sofa is my favorite. I love the tan color of the leather
though it’s so old already. It’s also hot on this floor so we want to have a daybed instead that’s made of a more breathable cloth. This coffee table is actually a vintage find from their (Yuseff’s) grandparents. We’ll also transfer this to the first floor
to make room for a smaller one because
there’s no space for us to move around anymore. For our TV area, I don’t know how to organize the wires
for now but that will change soon. This area is flooded by light in most times of the day, so the plan is to have a lot of plants here. So we can maximize the presence of sunlight. That’s our gallery wall. This one is a wedding photo. Those are the shoes we wore to our wedding. They are my favorite so I requested for a photo of wearing it. This one is a picture of the construction of our house while I was sitting by the loft area. This one we bought.
(I was wrong, it was given to us.) This one I painted in 2012. These are our wedding invitations. And this one is a view of the
Red Moon occurrence in Boracay. That is also Yuseff’s view when he realized
that he wanted to propose to me. We’ll change some of the pieces here
but the more meaningful ones will remain… or we’ll display them somewhere else in this area. That’s the view of the other side. When I watch the TV from my sofa this is my view…
Of course we move the electric fan aside. And another one of my most favorite part of this house
(I know that I have a lot of favorites…) For this one, I’m still in awe when I see it… …is this high ceiling.
Look at it! When I’m lying on the sofa and I’m looking at the ceiling, I’m wowed by its height. Despite our house being tiny, you don’t feel it that much because of the high ceiling. So that’s a tour of our third floor.
Hope you enjoyed it. I spend most of my time here. Eventually we will renovate or redecorate
our first and second floor… (the first floor) which is our storage and reception area. We call it a reception area as if it’s a hotel?! No, it’s really just a passage way but we still want it
to be presentable because now, it’s like a storage room. But that will soon change. Watch out for the changes.
I’ll be sharing it with you… As well as our bedroom. So that’s it for now. Bye!
