The most unique apartment in all of New York City – OffBeat Spaces Video

is a Nicole Beauchamp. I’m a real estate broker in
Manhattan with Warburg Realty. When I first came to
the apartment, it was impeccably clean. The owner was in town
for a few days to interview new brokers. It was basically just
as you see it today. I think the owner does have a
very distinct personality and a vision, and he wanted to
create his own world inside his home, which is really
sort of your sanctuary. He had this vision of
wanting to be in the midst of a blimp hangar. So he hired an architect who
also had a contractor. And together, they sort of
helped him create his world. Well, immediately, I thought,
this is going to be really, really interesting. When I walk in, my
jaw just dropped. I said, I just can’t
believe that this apartment actually exists. I was completely shocked. It took me a couple of weeks
to figure out that this was actually a fully working
porthole. I said, oh, OK, this
is really cool. It actually works. And welcome to the apartment. So on the ceiling, there’s
half a Zeppelin. What it represents is kind of
the anchoring of the Zeppelin to the ground after it’s
landed, essentially. So this room is actually
really interesting. It’s currently set
up as kind of a screening area/living room. Surrounding the flat panel, you
have more gears that are reminiscent of what you would
see in a hangar, and the moving parts are blimps
and planes. Continuing the idea of the
internal mechanics of a plane, you’ve got all these gears
mounted on the wall. So if I do this, the door
will close on its own. So it certainly is a unique way
to close the door while one is using the facilities. That’s for sure. What’s very unique about the
kitchen is not just the cabinetry, which is
custom, but the pulls on all the cabinets. These are also part of the
owner’s collection. So you see, every one
is actually unique. So basically, the bedroom area
has a sort of modified Murphy bed on a pulley system. You sort of pull the rope down,
and your bed comes down. So you bring it down when want
to sleep, and you put it up when you want more space
to walk through. These hanging closets
are actually a very good use of space. Traditionally, very often,
we ignore the space above our heads. And so this is a great
way to sort of reclaim and utilize space. So this is the last– well, one of the last of, I
believe, the six gears that are throughout the apartment. And it actually hides a filing
cabinet, which I think is pretty cool. So this is really what you
might consider the master bathroom suite. You’ve got a Jacuzzi tub,
a standing shower. Your back door, which would
normally lead you to the sleeping area, lights
up, as well as some colorful lighting. You never really know what’s
inside a building. To see it is like walking into
a living piece of art. I still, to this day, always
discover something new, so I think that’s definitely a
positive reaction to it. ERIKA STORM WASSER: Love

The mind of the owners world, Looks like a blimp, mixed with a pirate ship and/or airplane hanger.. The music is classical,[ means Old Money.]. but it doesn't help with the sale, makes the apartment seem too busy and frightening .
