Plus Size Shopping In Korea: Where to Shop in Seoul!
So I get many questions all the time asking
if I get could find clothes in Korea, because Korea is infamous for having small size clothes.
Well…. today I’m going to take you shopping with me and we are in Dongdaemun right now.
Ahem…I am in the Dongdaemun History and Cultural Center, ahem… and Dongdaemun is
known for great shopping areas for really, really cheap prices. So we are going to see
if we find anything, and then we will going to head on to Itaewon, to the home of the
foreigner area. So we are going to go to…not a really department store…it’s a building
that houses a whole lot of different vendors, and these vendors usually sell similar products,
but….ahem…. you just have to shop around to find the right prices. So we are coming
up to one….right now! It looks like this is seven floors of clothing and shoes for
both men and women…so lets go and shop around. Cute! No… that is not gonna fit! Sometimes
you will unfortunately come across some shirts that have english on it, but I don’t really
think anyone knows what it means (chuckles) I think they only do it for style. Shopping
in the Dongdaemun market is almost endless with something for almost everyone and any occasion, you
can buy a whole bunch of stuff. Guys…I have not forgotten about you now…there is an
entire floor dedicated for guy clothing all the way from the casual up to the fancy dressy
stuff…yes, so…you guys can come down to Dongdaemun too. I was successful with my first
purchase. I bought three things…ahem…two shirts and an open cardigan. So tips…when
you go shopping in Dongdaemun. 1. Bring CASH because usually you’ll get a bigger discount
when you have cash on hand. So make sure you have a pile of cash. I would actually suggest
that you put your cash in different areas of your purse because you don’t want them
to see all the money you got…OK… you’re are trying to act broke. 2. SHOP around. to
shop at Dongdaemun I would spend all day here and really compare prices of the things that
you like. Find the best price and then haggle from there. 3. Just be open, because you can
find lots of things that are really not for plus size, but with how Korea style is right
now with the oversize trend, you can find a lot of different tops here. I have not actively
tried to purchase pants, or jeans, or shorts, or skirts or dresses. I have not tried to
purchase any of those from here, so I would not be able to tell you if it is a possibility
for plus size…ok. Now, you have to keep in mind that Korean body frame is much smaller,
it’s petite, and their hips are not that wide, so it’s going to be a size much smaller. Alright
you guys…I have already changed into the first new top that I purchased, which is this
nice button down white top with some lace detailing that goes all the way to the back…it’s
really cute, and yeah…Does anybody else does that? Like you buy something brand new,
and you just have to wear it that day. Ahhh…that is what I did. Anyways, we are now on to Itaewon.
Now one thing that you don’t want to do is….you do not want to sleep on these in station stores, because you can find some amazing deals here too. Like check this out… These are great
places to buy basic shirts that you can dress up….annyeonghaeseyo..so this is even cute…look at that! 5900…I would wear that. Ugh…Mickey Mouse again. Mickey mouse…. Mickey Mouse
(chuckles) HBA…I don’t know what that is… Mickey Mouse (chuckles). So we are here in Itaewon. Itaewon is perfect if you are looking to shop for western sizes, because Itaewon, a lot of shops cater towards the foreign market, so we are going to go one of the stores called OK BT which is known for their plus size. This is a place where you go if you are looking for jeans and bottoms. You may even find some familiar western brands here. However, I do find their prices more expensive…and you’re not going to haggle. Overall, the staff is
so nice and sweet… and I know that there is also a branch in Busan. So…I hope that helped you guys with hopefully shopping for bigger sizes here is Korea. I was kinda successful finding tops is definitely possible here in Korea… so don’t let that fear overwhelm you. Anyways…..thank you for watching! I’ll see you guys next Monday! Bye! Thank you guys so much for watching this video. I will be doing a part 2 series about my personal experience about being bigger here in Korea. If you have any direct questions that you want addressed please leave them down below, and I will answer them in my next video. Bye Guys!….
