Off Their Trolley: Duo Build World’s Fastest Shopping Cart
CALVIN VANSANT: The most fun thing to do is just drive this thing down the street. COMM: Struggle to fit your grocery shopping into the car? Calvin Vansant and his son-in-law, Brent, might just have what you’re looking for. The Pennsylvanian duo started building the world’s fastest shopping trolley back in 2010. CALVIN VANSANT: We originally built it for a local parade. Took about two years, start to finish. COMM: Completed in 2012, the unusual vehicle measures 10ft tall and 13ft long. And it can
carry up to six people. The super-sized trolley is capable of reaching of speeds of over 50mph.
It even glows in the dark! Perhaps most surprisingly, the vehicle is 100% road legal. CALVIN VANSANT: A fair number of times we get pulled over, usually it’s, it’s ‘cause
the policeman wants, wants a photograph. We’ve never actually been asked for our license
and registration. I’m always so proud of them, I’m ready to give them to them, but
we’ve never been asked. COMM: The trolley is such a hit that Cal is considering building an even more outrageous shopper
chopper in the near future.
