Frank Lloyd Wright Home For Sale

HERE IS SOMETHING YOU DON’T SEE EVERY DAY A RARE ARCHITECTURAL MASTER PIECE IS UP FOR SALE. ONE OF THE FEW SURVIVING MINNESOTA HOUSES BY FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT IS FOR SALE. IT HAS BEEN IN ONE FAMILY ALMOST 60 YEARS. Reporter: FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT DESIGNED THE HOUSE IN THE LATE 50s FOR A YOUNG FAMILY IT IS HIS SIGNATURE LOOK LOW SLUNG ROOF ON BRICK AND GLASS BUILT INTO A HILL ON A SECLUDED CUL- DE-SAC. COME IN. Reporter: THE 2600 SQUARE FOOT HOUSE INCLUDES HIS TRADEMARKED BRICK WALLS, HIGH CEILINGS, RED CONCRETE FLOORWALL OF WINDOWS OVERLOOKING TWO AND A HALF ACRES OF NATURE YOU WOULD THING THAT WOULD BE DARK RIGHT BUT WITH THE WALLS OF LIGHT, YOU DON’T FEEL THAT AND RED WAS A SIGNATURE COLOR OF HIS. Reporter: THE 3 BEDROOM HOUSE INCLUDES ORIGINAL BUILT INs WRIGHT DESIGNED HIMSELF SOMETHING HE OFTEN DID TO MAKE SURE THE HOME’S CONTENTS MATCHED HIS VISION. LIVING ROOM SOFA. A LOT OF PROPERTIES HAD THIS. Reporter: DESK STOOLS, DINING ROOM TABLE AND WOOD HAND LEER ABOVE IT. YOU HAVE FURNITURE HERE THAT WILL STAY WITH THE PROPERTY THESE WILL STAY WITH THE PROPERTY AS WELL. CHAIRS DESIGNED BY HIM. IT IS REMARKABLE. Reporter: UNLIKE MOST HOMES THIS INCLUDE AS BASEMENT THE FAMOUS ARCHITECT OPPOSED IT BUT THE YOUNG PARENTS INSISTED AND RAISED FOUR CHILDREN HERE. TRULY SPECTACULAR. Reporter: IT IS NOT HUGE BUT FEELS BIG AND 56 YEARS AFTER IT WAS BUILT IT IS STILL MODERN IN ITS SIMPLICITY. NO REASON TO BE CHANGING THINGS UP BASED ON THE WAY STYLES ARE CHANGING TODAY S HOW FAST. THERE IS NOTHING TO CHANGE. WHILE THE HOUSE IS ON THE MARKET, IN MINNESOTA FOR $1.5 MILLION, IT IS ONE OF ONLY NINE WRIGHT HOUSES SURVIVING IN MINNESOTA AND ONE OF HIS LAST COMMISSIONS HE STARTED DESIGNING IT IN 1957, WHEN HE WAS 89 AND HE DIED BEFORE IT WAS COMPLETED IN 1960. REALLY COOL TO SEE THIS I LOVED IT. SIT IN FABULOUS SHAPE. IT IS LOOKS LIKE A NEW HOUSE THE MODERN HOUSES WE SEE TODAY. AMAZING HOW TIMELESS HIS DESIGNS WERE. REALLY IS AND JUST A YOUNG COUPLE THAT RAISE ADD FAMILY THEY SENT — RAISED A FAMILY THEY SENT A LETTER TO HIM SURE WHY NOT. WERE THERE OTHERS TORN DOWN? YEAH, SOME OF THEM HAVE BEEN TAKEN APART AND MOVED TO THE FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT PRESERVATION AREA BUT SOME DISAPPEARED TOO. OVERTIME I THINK SOME OF THESE HAVE BECOME LESS IMPORTANT AND NOW IN MODERN TIMES THEY ARE MORE AND MORE IMPORTANT AS ONE OF AMERICA’S GREATEST ARCHITECTS. PROBABLY ADDS TO ITS VALUE. VERY MUCH SO. THIS IS PLUCKED DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A NORMAL

It's very modern….but his stuff always seems like a dentists waiting room. A high end dentist, but a dentist.

It looks like a church social hall or something. I like the big window, but the interior design makes it seem cold and depressing.
