Cyberpunk 2077 News – Apartments, Weapons & Optimization!

Welcome back for some more Cyberpunk 2077
news. Today we’ll be talking about weapons and
how they are balancing smart, tech and power weapons, how they are using pro gamers to
refine their shooting mechanics, Some small details which could mean big things for an
imminent Cyberpunk 2077 release, What we can expect from apartments and customization,
CD Projekt Red’s plan to optimize the game for lower end hardware and modern consoles,
the amount of writers working on the project and how they collaborate in creating Cyberpunk’s
quests,as well as a bionic man who is creating REAL cyberpunk 2077-esque augmentations. So first up we have weapon balance and shooting
mechanic details and news. According to information from a livestreamed
interview with CD Projekt Red developers at Gamescom, they have brought on some significant
help when trying to get the feel and smoothness of their shooting mechanics and weapons system down. Lukas LUQ Wnek, former counter Strike professional
player who has won the World Cyber Games in 2006 and 2009, has joined the team to help
CD Projekt Red in their first foray in to designing a First Person Perspective Shooting
experience. Shooter games with Strong RPG elements, or
how CD Projekt Red has called Cyberpunk 2077 an RPG with shooter elements, tend to suffer
from underwhelming shooting mechanics and lack of weight to the weapons. Bethesda and Fallout 4 experienced this to
a degree, and one of the main complaints from the Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Demo was that
the shooting didn’t have enough impact. The machine pistol has very little kick and
recoil, and although this could be because V had cyberware to reduce both of these, it
wasn’t a great first showing as far as purely shooting goes. For a game which is all about immersion, it’s
something I’m sure they are working on. Now having a pro gamer, from a game like CSGO,
which pprobably has some of the most refined shooting mechanics on the market, is a huge
asset. Don’t expect the shooting in Cyberpunk
2077 to be quite as pinpoint precise as a competitive online shooter, but the buttery
smooth animations, and hitscan systems Luq is familiar with will help Cyberpunk 2077
in the long run. For those who aren’t great at shooter games,
fret not as weapons will be able to become modified into smart weapons where they will
track you enemies assuming you have the additional optics and cyberware to lock onto
enemies to begin with. Smart weapons will do less damage in comparison
to those you aim, which is another balance aspect LUQ can help CDPR with. CD Projekt Red has also addressed damage numbers
that pop up when shooting enemies, and are making sure there is an option to turn those
off if you so choose. A lot of people seem to want to turn the damage
indicators off, so this is great knews for players who are 100% invested in immersion. You can also turn other HUD indicators off,
which makes me really want a blind mode where the whole HUD is wiped including the reticule,
health bar, waypoint indicators and killfeed. This would be a really cool playthrough experience,
and might be the perfect hardcore mode this game needs to really up the ante. Next up we have some details via Twitter that
could tell us just how close to the end CD Projekt Red is on Cyberpunk 2077. First we have CDPR releasing a job listing
looking for an automated test engineer. Now some may take this as “wait a minute,
they’re still hiring people for working on the game, they must be far away from completing”. Realistically this might mean that they are
hiring staff for their final phase of the game, which is solutions for automating the
de-bugging phase. This is usually the final step before a game
goes gold and is ready for release. They’ve also been looking for a cinematic
cutscene designer as well, which is again generally a final phase step for game development. We also have Kyle Rowley leaving CD Projekt
Red to join another game studio. Now he was a designer at CD Projekt Red, so
this can mean that he’s no longer needed on the game, in terms of overseeing development
or anything of that nature. He has presumably finished his role on Cyberpunk,
which as a pivotal designer must be a huge part of it, leaving again only bug detection
and playtesting to be one of the only things CDPR needs employees to do on Cyberpunk 2077. There also is a rumor that some Gwent devs
are moving from Gwent into the 2077 team. This is substantial news for the Release date,
knowing the game is already playable from start to finish. Next up we have optimization details about
how the game will take into account the aging technology of modern consoles like the Xbox
1 and the PS4. Many people are doubting the ability of Cyberpunk
2077 to run on current generation consoles, let alone PCs. With a beefy i7, 1080ti build running the
Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo in 4K, locked at 30FPS, Cd Projekt red has also addressed
their optimization process to those who are skeptical. Starting from the very beginning Maciej Pietras
claims that they started the developmental process with optimization in mind, thinkin
from scratch on how to implement features like global illumination, without bottle necking
or stressing the hardware too much. They’ve also confirmed that so far, they’ve
run into no problems so hardware specs might be reasonable. I’ve said this time and time again but CDPR
is a business and to sell an optimal amount of copies, targeting at the very least mid
range PCS and the hardware its promised on, is advantageous, numbers and profits wise. Pietras also mentions every platform only
has so much performance. He also mentions You can distribute where
you want to root this performance, whethere that’s in larger city scapes, more destructibility,
more NPCs, better lighting or more complex AI. This is a task CDPR feels like they are ready
for, and by the way the gameplay demo looks, I’d say they’ve struck a meaningful and
impressive balance. Pietras also mentioned that they are always
looking for new technical features to implement to speed up work and lower costs for Red Engine
4, the new engine they are using for Cyberpunk. They are actually starting to dabble in AI
generated workflows, so this could be something that not only helps with optimization, but
will make production and development more streamlined, meaning a potentially earlier
release window. All their demos so far have been running in
real time, so CD Projekt Red is not hiding anything. There’s no hidden trickery, filters, or
anything generated specifically for the demo. It’s all live and in flux. Next up we have news on Apartments, megabuildings,
and the upgradability and customization of our dwellings. We have confirmation that we will be able
to have multiple apartments from CDPR, which will feature Radios, Computers to surf the
net, scenic vistas, and weapons lockers and closets for all the gear you collect in your
travels. There is also a Night City Vending Machine,
where you can order drinks, braindance experiences and one night stands from JoyBoys and Joygirls. You will be able to own more than one as you
stockpile your cash, most likely culminating in a top floor penthouse suite overlooking
the city. Games like GTA have done this before, and
adds an aspect of having a “home base” to come back and relax in after a particularly
straining or heady mission, something The Witcher 3 did not offer. Next up we have some details about the writing
and writers working on the script for Cyberpunk 2077. The writing team that is focused on the overarching
dialogue is 10 writers. This is a heavy increase from The Witcher
3’s overarching writing team which had 2 people. Now there are other writers focused on the
side quests, dialogue options and cinematic scripts amongst other things, but as for main
writers, there is quite the contrast between the witcher 3’s last installment and Cyberpunk
so far. The Witcher 3’s script had 450,000 words,
which equals around 4 fully fledged novels. This may give us some insight to just how
long Cyberpunk 2077’s story mode is going to be. Finally we have bionic man Hugh Herr, an MIT
Professor who creates real life Augmentations. He’s been using some pretty high tech Cyberpunk
2077 esque augmentations after he lost both of his legs to frostbite in a mountain climbing
accident. After the accident he took it upon himself
to manufacture cybernetic leg replacements, that he can control with his mind. Signals from his brain are sent to processors
in the cybernetic prosthetics allowing him to run, dance and jump. Now Hugh Herr is somewhat annoyed by the portrayal
of augmentations by the media, movies and in gaming, stating that mostly good things
will come out of this technology like ending disability, disease and human suffering. In other words he doesn’t see the dark portrayal
of the augmented future seen in Cyberpunk 2077 and Deus Ex. While I do agree it’s largely going to do
good, the regulations of these and the goverenmantal bodies and policies behind these, not the
augmentations themselves, are what will lead to a Cyberpunk-esque future if we somehow
enter that territory. Piggybacking off of the bionic man, Deus Ex
actually has a branded artificial arm made for an amputee, so CDPR whenever you’re
ready ill take one Cyberpunk 2077 branded mantis blade augment to perch myself ontop
of a tall building or tree anytime. Thanks for watching guys and remember to subscribe
and join the notification squad

Also shooting mechanics from a online gamer in a single player game? Ehh….

I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one who's not hyped for Cyberpunk 2077. I'm totally a Sci-Fi nut and love dystopian future stories but this game just looks so boringly familiar to all other FPS games. Sure it looks visually pleasing on the eye but most games do on the next Gen consoles. Ultimately for me this game should have been designed in 3rd person with the option to switch to 1st person. That's the main deal breaker for me and the reason why I won't purchase this game on release. A long ass 1st person story with not being able to admire my character until cut scenes, in menu or riding a motorcycle isn't my idea of a fun RPG at all. Those who say that the two features can't work well together obviously have never played "Star Wars Battlefront 2". I've been gaming since the 80's and RPGs are my favourite genre. However Cyberpunk offers nothing whatsoever that makes me want to purchase it on release. My love for Sci-Fi will eventually force me to buy the game even against my better judgment but it will only be when the game is in a sale for £14.99. Thumbs down for Cyberpunk 2077.

Now i need to say that since you have criticized it. I don't know how many of you used machine pistols etc but some of the modern one's I have used such as the P90 have practically zero recoil and you cannot feel their kick, it's more like a gentle vibration, also it feels extremely light, when i first got hold of it after switching from my HK G3 it felt like i was holding a chocolate bar, not a gun. Yes older guns do have recoil and the farther back you go in terms of technology the more recoil they have, modern sub-machine guns though have very little. It stands to reason that in the future recoil will improve even more and if you are augmented with more strength then guns, will have no weight into them and will counter recoil altogether.

Would be nice with a release in 2019 however with all the current letdowns from other powerhouse development studios, i do not want them to just release the game for the sake of releasing it when the market is not saturated with game releases, please release it when it is ready and finished and as many bugs as possible have been fixed, so we can get a good game with a well driven story with a ton of side quests and interactions, so we can be immersed into this universe and make it a good release both for CD project reds case and the fans as well.

People keep reffering to it as an open world, its not. The developers themselves reffered to it more as an open city. Imagine the city of los santos without all the outside areas. That’s probably more like it.

As far as shooting is concerned, the less recoil and kick the guns have, the better. Having high recoil gives the implication that your character has never held a gun in their hand before and doesn't know anything about firing one, thus doesn't understand how to properly control recoil. On top of that, it's an incredibly annoying feature and does nothing but serve only to hamper your shooting experience. Less recoil gives the idea that your character is not only an experienced mercenary – fitting the background for V, but is also less irritating for the player. I don't care how realistic it is for a high caliber weapon to have more kick to it, it's annoying, and does not benefit the game in a positive way. Comfort is important above all else, and realistic weapon recoil is the opposite of comfort. Comfort encourages fun, and fun gives weight to what a good shooter is. And I'm not even mentioning how technological advancements should reduce it further considering the game takes place in – who would've guessed – 2077. There's no excuse to have harsh recoil in this case, not unless you're shooting a 50 cal without an augmented arm or prone on the ground. Make it a vibration, not a jump as if the gun's trying to literally fly out of your hands and escape.

I wish CDPR would release CP2077 first for the PS5 and/or Next Xbox , so the game makes the strongest Impact It can.
Sometimes , regardless of great optimization , certain games with revolutionary ambitious Ideas (especially new IP) need no compromises!.
I want It to be like FF7 or TW3 all over again , In terms of leapfrogging to the next level. The Witcher 3 had the advantage of being early
In a brand new generation. This generation Is over soon so why not wait and release It as a launch title November 2020 for next gen,
then release optimized versions of that for x1/ps4. They'll spur next gen adoption and still make long-term profit and CP2077's potential won't suffer.
First reviews and playthroughs are Important , you never really get them back , so pick the strongest hardware first to fully realize your game
then penetrate your max customer potential. Worst thing Is ending up saying what could have been , and no amount of polish or remaster
can change that. As revolutionary as The Witcher 3 was , I and many others wish It looked as good as the first demos , those were BREATHTAKING.
Now you will never see that version. It didn't matter because the Immersive leap was huge enough. Anyway #NextGenLaunchFirstPlease

I'm looking forward more augmented and deeper/more complex, I'm stuck with chronic pain in maybe 95% of the upper half of my back, caused by several surgeries, I went trough 3 or 4 different kinds of surgery to reduce pain, and last time my doctor and I talked about it, he essentially said that the only option I have left, is one that doesn't exist yet -_- so I'm waiting and hopping for cybernetics or any other kind of interface that could filter out the pain my brain is receiving from the busted up nerves.

Quick story, in one of my surgeries, they installed some electric 'cables' in my back to tried to create a sort of electric massage under the skin, and in order to calibrate them, they had to leave a cable, so I had USB cable sticking out of my back and the doctor would plug it into a laptop, was the weirdest and most awesome wtf moment I had xD btw, I was only the 9th one to get that surgery in Canada, and I was the first one to get it into the back, and the first one to get two pairs of these cables at once….you can imagine the amount of people that came from all over the country to assist the surgery, we were easily 30 in the room, and only 3 or 4 were there to do said surgery x)
