Choosing an auto repair shop: interview your shop
Now, the next thing I recommend is – interview your shop. When we go to a new doctor, we learn everything we can about them — where they went to school, what their certifications are, what makes them good at what they do. And then we go and sit down with them, we have that first meeting where they are interviewing us, but we are interviewing them and seeing if we feel comfortable with them. Do the same thing with your auto repair shop. Check them out, find out what kind of warranty do the offer, what kind of certifications do they have, what kind of continuing education do they do. And then ask for a tour. If it’s your first time going into a shop, ask them if you talk with a service advisor for a little while, ask if they can take you around to check out the shop and meet the technicians. If they are not willing to spend 5 or 10 minutes helping ease your fears, that’s probably a red flag in and of itself. They should be more than happy to sit down with you and take the time to make you feel comfortable.
