51 Smart decor ideas for Small Apartment

No matter how tiny that studio apartment is, nothing beats having your own space. Here are some actually feasible ideas that
don’t involve remodeling or a completely unrealistic warehouse loft.
This is 51 Brilliant ways to make small apartment more livable.
by peggy wang. 1. Place a curtain around the bed. it’ll give your sleeping space some tranquility
and a nook-like feel. 2. If your workspace only consists of a laptop,
just use a bookshelf instead of taking up space with a desk. 3. The curtain separator works for a kitchen too. 4. Use a piece of plywood to build a makeshift
wall that you can place a desk against. 5. Or a pull-down screen. Doubles as a surface to project movies on! 6. Put the bedroom under a gigantic canopy. It’ll give the illusion of a private fort. 7. Use your TV to mentally separate your sleeping
space from your entertainment space. Also, love the accent wall in the “bedroom.” 8. Opt for sliding doors for closets and bathrooms. They require less space than swing-out doors. 9. Re purpose an old window for kitchen separation Also, a kitchen island on wheelies can provide
some much-needed counter and storage space. 10. A chest doubles as a coffee table and as storage. 11.Set your bed up against a wall so you can
prop pillows up when you need to use it as a couch.
Or hanging it for a new fun. it’s not too hard for DIYers to recreate. and you have the link under the video you can visit later after you finish the video. 12. Make a couch that swivels into a bed. How do you live in a small apartment, and still have the opportunity of having a bed,
a nice big couch, and even the possibility of having friends over ? Put legs on the mattresses with hooks to keep
it all together during the night. and have the bedlinen in a basket next to the
couch/bed. The top mattresses are the thin type,
and have made covers for them, so it is easy to make the bed in the evening.
More info: The back cushions contains a foam mattress
in the size 90 cm X 90 cm. 9 cm thick. It is folded and hold together with a strap.
When you have friend over two of these on the floor makes it out for one bed.
The foam sort of makes the mattress stick to the floor so it doesn’t slide apart during
the night. You can make the bed in the extra room, for
a little privacy. Finally,
You can get that dreamy sectional you’ve always wanted. 13. Use seating as an opportunity to store
as much stuff as possible. Instead of plain old chairs, opt for seating
that serves double duty, like storage ottomans and storage couches. 14. Make use of a ladder in dead space behind
a door. You can hang things off of it, like a throw
or a winter jacket. 15. Use your window as a projector screen.
If you’re not the type to watch television but still want the option to screen movies
in your apartment, buy a white screen for your windows that double
as blinds. 16. Place your sofa against the bed. 17. Chaise lounges are a good alternative
to regular-sized couches. They’re generally shorter than full-sized
couches and are more versatile than a loveseat. And if you get two of them, you can sandwich
them together into a makeshift bed. 18. Turn your bed into a movie pit with a
heavy dresser or console. Imagine this. You walk in, take off your jacket,
drop your bag on the chair and walk over to the drawer.
You pull out your phone, plug it to the speakers and your favorite music starts playing.
You continue: to cook, exercise, study, and when the night’s calling –
you change to your pajamas and head to the bed area and sleep or relax or watch a movie.
Here’s a floor plan for this image: 19. A ceiling-hanging clothing rack takes
advantage of your vertical space. The one shown here doesn’t look bulky or
monstrous, and you have enough vertical space to stack
things like shoes or books underneath. 20. Don’t have space for a couch? Giant
pillows on the floor can be laid out when you have guests over.
And then put away when you need the floor space. SO COZY. 21. Build a super simple foldout table that’s
mounted to the wall. If you have basic carpentry skills, you can
make an incredibly simple kitchen table that folds back up onto a wall with some wood and
some hinges. Move to the ceiling. And,
Reset your light and lighting system like this. 22. Put your bed on lockable casters.
This way, you can easily wheel it to be used as extra seating in the living room,
or against a wall when you need some floor space to do an impromptu yoga routine or gymnastics
flip without the bed don’t end up half way across the room.
Thanks to a $250 Hamilton S-7010-PR-4SL-IB Pneumatic Casters
from drillspot. 23. The Unhampered Collapsible Laundry Basket.
Folds up into a shred of nothing. Entertainment purpose only.
Out of stock in Amazon. 24. Get Slide-in Spice Rack. You can have your marjoram and eat it, too. Or do it the DIY way: Make this brilliant
in-cabinet spice rack yourself. The materials will cost you less than $10.
and you only need 2 steps to get the job done. 25. Craft Over-the-Fridge Snack Caddy.

or you could easily sew one together or create one by cutting up a shoe organizer.

For someone like me, who is concerned with money and space, these hacks are great. I live in a very large city, where apartments on average, no matter your budget, are small, so this video helped me tons!

I use two grundtal towel holders attached to the door frame in my closet to hang my pants on. When I need my shirts hanging inside the closet I just swing the arms out to access them and I just swing them back and shut the closet door.

Honestly, there are some good ideas in there, such as curtains or cupboards to divide the room (I recommend those typicall square shelfs from Ikea everybody seems to have at home, you know; you can access them from both sides and eliminate any kind of night stand with that; also books are free to grab from the bed :D). But some are just not practical or waaaay too expensive. I mean if I have the money for some stupid as $200 wheels I probably wouldn't be living in a one room apartment.

Personal tip btw (only works if you don't have a ton of clothing): try to opt for a apartment with a cupboards built into the entrance or double use the entrance space as your wardrobe 😉 Mirrors are at hand for sure. Works wonders for me, as my bathroom is directly beside the entrance space. Just hop out of the shower and grab what you need 😀

Also kitchen tables can be used as more counter space.
Camping shops are a good place to look for smart solutions designed for small places that are cheap! Like dish space, all kinds of hooks, and different organizing tools!

"Small apartment?" The ones you show are huge! The single room styles you show are far larger than my 1br place.

Then again, my place is abnormally small. Literally 3" of counter space….

Most of those ideas show rooms, that are not at all considered "small" in Germany, where I live Those are absolute average! Some of them are rather big compared to what I live in. And that is not a small apartment! So you see how different reception of space is in different countries. My best idea for keeping a "small" space clear: Stop buying and start throwing stuff out. You don't need to stock up for the zombie apocalypse! But: Every furniture you buy makes you walk around it, costs money, needs cleaning and care. Throw stuff out and you may not need the extra piece at all. Start this way around. You don't have to become a minimalist…

"Place your sofa against yourbed." That's agreat idea! Most sofa's are bigger than my room (2 * 3 meters) and I need a bed, closet, table, bookcase, bin, storage for bags and season clothes. My room is my sleeping room, study room and living room. No way there is place for even a curtain around my bed.

44. Turn your painting sideways so that it's a vertical item & replace the painting with a mirror. Place very thin chocks at the top on the back before mounting so that up close you can see your face & upper body easily but when standing back, you can see your entire body. Mount it opposite the doorway if possible so that you can step backwards into the doorway for a better view – playing with the chocks & your available standing space sorts this out.
I've done this & it works a charm – the play angle is very small but makes quite a difference.

Who has ROOM for an ottoman? When you're that cramped, the coffee table serves as your ottoman (if you have room for THAT too).
In fact when you're that cramped, you discover NEODYMIUM MAGNETS real fast – you can get boards with magnets embedded in them for wall-mounted knife storage. Magnets this strong let you attach stuff of considerable weight to the sides of all your whitegoods. And if you're broke too, you can dig these things out of old HDD.

people don't seem to get the fact that if you spend $1000 for wheels once, it is cheaper than spending more every month for a bigger space. You take the things that made your small space efficient with you when you move. Extra money on rent is just gone. Nothing to show for it when you move.

Some things it seems like she's not taking into consideration. First, a lot of studio/efficiency apartments are rentals, meaning only small/non permment changes are allowed, if at all. Second, a lot of people using these are in college or work for lower wages. Third, if it already comes furnished, a lot of these are simply useless or not practical. Lastly, as far as not having room for both a couch and a bed, just get a futon. Same idea, especially if you have older relatives visiting where getting on the floor may be difficult. Not angry, but it seems like they didn't know who this would have looking for tips like this nowadays.

I feel bad for the vo actor. The copy was obviously written by multiple sources, so she had to deal with inconsistent priorities, writing styles, and bad grammar (some of which she corrected instinctively, other times she read as is). The producer/director really should have taken the time to organize the copy into "one voice."
