2 Firefighters Treated For Heat Exhaustion Following Arlington Apartment Fire


AS TUESDAY. I WILL TELL YOU HOW LONG THAT COOLER STICKS AROUND. TWO FIREFIGHTERS ARE RECOVERING TONIGHT BECAUSE OF THAT HEAT AND A HUGE AN APARTMENT FIRE. BUYER CALL ELEVATED TO FOUR ALARMS. Reporter: THOSE TWO FIREFIGHTERS YOU MENTIONED, THEY ARE BEING TREATED TONIGHT FOR HEAT EXHAUSTION. IT WAS RELATED TO THE FIRE AT THIS HOUR. YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME, THE APARTMENT COMPLEX IS STILL BUSY AND AND ACTIVE SCENE. A NUMBER OF FIREFIGHTERS ARE MONITORING HOTSPOTS, MAKING SURE THE FIRE DOES NOT REKINDLE. THIS FIRE STARTED AFTER FOUR CLOCK THIS AFTERNOON. HE QUICKLY WENT TO TWO, THREE, AND THEN OR ALARMS. THE PLANES WERE SO INTENSE A PARTIALLY COLLAPSED THE ROOF. FIREFIGHTERS HAD TO CALL IN EXTRA MANPOWER BECAUSE OF THE HEAT. HE INDEX AT THE TIME WAS WELL OVER 105 DEGREES. YOU CAN IMAGINE, FIREFIGHTERS HAD TO DO WITH THE HEAT FROM THE FLAMES AS WELL AS THE TEMPERATURES, AND CARRYING AROUND ALL OF THEIR GEAR. OUT YOUR LIFE, FIREFIGHTERS TOMMY THAT 12 UNITS ARE EITHER DESTROYED OR HAD SOME TYPE OF DAMAGE. 30 PEOPLE TONIGHT ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO STAY.
